The awards ceremony for “Taejoon Ophthalmology Thesis Award” and “Taejoon Ophthalmology Service Award” sponsored by Taejoon Pharm. (President  Taeyoung Lee) was held at the 116th symposium of Korean Ophthalmological Society at Ilsan KINTEX on Dec. 5th. At the awards ceremony, Best Thesis Award went to Hoseong Jin at Ajou University School of Medicine, Service Award to Jongsu at Pusan National University School of Medicine, Excellent Thesis Award to Geunhye Kim at Catholic University of Daegu School of Medicine, Resident Thesis Award to Seunghwan Choi at Martknoll Medical Center, and Most Highly-Cited KJO Thesis Award to Musang Kim at Kangwon National University School of Medicine and Byeongju Jo at Konkuk University College of Medicine.

Starting from 2002, “Taejoon Ophthalmology Thesis Award” and “Taejoon Ophthalmology Service Award” have been given to healthcare providers who have contributed to the development of ophthalmology in Korea for the last 15 years. The prize money for Best Thesis Award and Service Award is 5 million won and 3 million won for Excellent Thesis award and Resident Thesis Award and 1 million won for Most Highly-Cited KJO Thesis Award. During this academic conference period, Taejoon Pharm. held two symposiums covering external eye and retina by inviting eye specialists. On Nov. 5, Prof. Taeyeong Choi from Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine gave a presentation on “Cyclosporine: Better Choice of Cyclosporine Eye Drop” and on the next day, Prof. Huiyoon Jo from Hanyang University School of Medicine received a very positive response from the participants through her presentation on “The Role of Ophthalmologists for Preventing Macular Degeneration: A Guide to AREDS formula.” As an innovative pharmaceutical company designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taejoon Pharm. took this academic conference as an opportunity to publicize the excellence of their various ophthalmic products by setting up promotion booths for introducing to the participants “New Hyalyuni Eye Drops 0.15% (0.35mL),” the first medication for dry eyes in Korea to contain 0.15% Sodium Hyaluronate; “Xalost Eye Drops” for the treatment of open angle glaucoma, which is exported to Europe; “Cyclosporine,” a nano-emulsion that quickly relieves dry eye symptoms; “OCUAREDSTU M” effective for preventing and treating macular degeneration; NSAID’s “Bronuck,” the No.1 prescription in Korea, USA, and Japan, which has a powerful anti-inflammatory and pain- relieving effect; and other products.

Supplying excellent medical products manufactured using its facilities that gained Korea’s first EU-GMP certification in 2008, Taejoon Pharm. is continuing to support the development of ophthalmology in Korea through Taejoon Ophthalmology Thesis Award and Service Award and at the same time serving Koreans’ eye health by conducting various social contribution activities together with Korean Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness.
